Back in 1969, Don Wetzel was growing increasingly frustrated while waiting on a long line at a bank in order to cash a check. That's when he hit upon the idea of an automated teller machine – the first ATM, using PIN codes and a personalized bank card. In a story originally broadcast on the "CBS Evening News" on September 20, 1995, correspondent Bill Geist talked with Wetzel about his achievement, which was being honored by the Smithsonian Institution.
