Canada gives Shell 21 days to stop oil well blowouts — but U.S. gives just 24 hours

A Nova Scotia environmentalist is questioning why federal Environment Minister Leona Aglukkaq signed off on an offshore drilling plan that allows up to 21 days to contain a subsea blowout, when the most recent U.S. regulation requires blowouts to be capped within 24 hours.
