Student's iPhone app helps Mars rover

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind., Aug. 24 (UPI) -- A 19-year-old Purdue University sophomore from Los Angeles played a big role in enabling the first steps of NASA's Curiosity rover on Mars, the school said.
