Government compromise on subsidy ends strife in southern Chile

PUNTA ARENAS, Chile, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- A government compromise on gas price subsidy cuts ended more than a week of strife in southern Chile as protesters hailed a victory, made somber by two deaths and 200 arrests.
