Scanning antiquity underfoot

Scientists have invented a tool that combines advanced analyses from many geophysical methods to "see" below the earth's surface at depths of up to several dozen yards. With this information, archaeologists can decide which sites are significant enough to be "dug" and which sites can remain unexplored until a later date.
