Women Are More Likely Than Men To Die In Hospital From Severe Heart Attack

Women and men have about the same overall in-hospital death rate after heart attack. However, women are twice as likely as men to die if hospitalized for a type of heart attack known as ST-elevation myocardial infarction. Women are also less likely to receive appropriate and timely treatment for heart attack.
