Old-growth forests as global carbon sinks

Old-growth forests continue to accumulate carbon and are important global carbon sinks, suggests a new paper published in the recent (11 September 2008) issue of Nature. The research indicates that 15% of the global forest area, not currently considered when offsetting increasing concentrations of carbon dioxide, provides at least 10% of the global net productivity...
