UC San Diego's Doctoral Programs Win High Marks in Prestigious NRC Study

The National Research Council (NRC) today released the results of its comprehensive assessment of the quality of more than 5,000 doctoral programs in 62 fields at 212 U.S. research institutions. The results of the measurements provided by the NRC indicate that three doctoral programs offered at the University of California, San Diego are ranked first in the country, and 60 percent of UC San Diegos programs are among the top 20 programs in their fields nationwide. The NRC Data-Based Assessment of Research-Doctorate Programs, a highly regarded "gold standard" rating of doctoral programs and faculty scholarship, provides a more comprehensive assessment of doctoral programs than current popular rankings.
