Equine virus outbreak spooks horse owners across Western U.S.

EHV-1 has led to the deaths of at least seven horses and the cancellation of horse events from Tulsa to San Diego County. The outbreak apparently began in Ogden, Utah, about a month ago.The horse named Powered By Pep had just won his class at a competition in Bakersfield when his owner, David Booth, noticed that the animal was not quite himself.
