FDA panel findings could lead to curbs on menthol cigarettes

Menthol flavoring may make it easier to become addicted to cigarettes and may make smoking more alluring to young people, according to an FDA advisory panel's preliminary report. Experts don't expect the findings will lead to a ban on menthol, however. Adding menthol to cigarettes may increase the likelihood of addiction and make it easier for young people to start smoking, according to preliminary findings of a Food and Drug Administration advisory panel.
