Alaska judge impedes plans for oil and gas drilling in the Arctic

The federal ruling states that the Interior Department violated the National Environmental Policy Act by failing to adequately consider the environmental ramifications of the proposal. A federal judge in Alaska blocked plans Wednesday for oil and gas drilling in the Arctic, ruling that the Interior Department did not adequately consider the proposal's environmental effects.
