Genetic engineering had been used to make cancer more vulnerable to treatment. Now the scientists hope to do the same thing through a medication.Cancer treatments, such as radiation and chemotherapy, are more shotgun-scattered than precision-targeted. They damage bystanding healthy cells as they attack the tumor tissue, causing nasty side effects.
