'Sorry' seems to be the hardest word

The doctor is late (again). And when she or he arrives, you probably won't get an apology. Don't you deserve one? We doctors will always run late. But we rarely apologize. Why is that? Why is it so hard for doctors, nurses and other office staff to say a simple "Sorry I'm late"?
