Dr. Warren Breidenbach in Louisville, Ky., has done all four hand transplants in the U.S. using composite tissue allotransplantation, which utilizes multiple tissues. A team of surgeons gave 32-year-old Dave Robert Armstrong of Upland a hand, last July -- literally.
