Humpback whales losing protection amid Northern Gateway tanker push

The Canadian government is trying to reduce the protection of humpback whales off the coast of B.C. under the Species at Risk Act as the proposed Northern Gateway pipeline threatens to turn the whales' habitat into a major oil shipping corridor.
